FastLoupe vs FastRawViewer
A library-wide browsing tool and a RAW-inspection tool answer different questions. Try the one that addresses the decisions you make most often.
On Mac, download free and start the optional trial in the app. See what stays free and what the unlock buys.
When the RAW data is the question
FastRawViewer provides RAW-based inspection, including RAW histograms and exposure assessment. It is worth evaluating when a rejection depends on what the RAW file contains rather than how its embedded JPEG looks. See the vendor’s current feature and purchase pages.
When the library is the question
FastLoupe helps you find and judge photos across a prepared catalogue: date and keyword filters, ratings, flags, comparison and missing-file context. It is not claiming FastRawViewer’s RAW-analysis workflow.
FastLoupe builds its own local catalogue and preview cache. Initial cataloguing takes time; later grid browsing uses those prepared previews. Full-resolution review and export can read the originals. Cached-scroll measurements do not tell you how long your cull will take.
RAW decoding and browsing are different jobs
FastLoupe can decode supported RAW files for background full-resolution review and export; it does not run that decoder on the grid’s browsing path. Its everyday Develop tools are not a promise to reproduce your preferred RAW converter’s output. Keep that converter for work where its rendering matters.
Choose with a representative folder
Compare setup time, the checks you need to make and the output you need to deliver. Do not infer first-import speed from scrolling through an already prepared catalogue. The old dated FastRawViewer sale is not quoted here as a current offer; follow its purchase page for today’s price.
