Privacy Policy
FastLoupe is local-first, and stays that way.

The short version: FastLoupe runs on your computer. It has no FastLoupe account, and Oddbrd receives no telemetry, analytics, photos, or information about your library. Optional features contact the providers named below; those providers receive ordinary request data under their own policies. Everything below is detail.
What Oddbrd collects about you
From your use of FastLoupe, nothing. FastLoupe has no Oddbrd or FastLoupe account or sign-in, no telemetry or usage analytics, and no crash-reporting service. Optional provider features can ask you to sign in to that provider — for example Microsoft for Azure or OneDrive — but those credentials go to the provider, not Oddbrd. Oddbrd receives no personal data, photos, metadata or diagnostics from your use of the app. We cannot see your library.
If you choose to email support, Oddbrd receives your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use that correspondence only to answer and resolve your request, and retain it only as long as reasonably needed for support and legal record-keeping.
What the app stores, and where
FastLoupe keeps everything it needs on your own device. Deleting these removes the data:

When FastLoupe uses the network
FastLoupe is not strictly offline-only, but it makes network calls only in the situations below. Oddbrd receives none of your photos, catalogue data, or telemetry; where another provider necessarily receives information, it is named below:
- Map tiles — before the first download, FastLoupe asks for permission. If you continue, it requests map images for the area you view from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. The requested tile identifies that map area; when the map is fitted around geotagged photos, the area may reflect where those photos were taken. The OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy says its services record the IP address, application and device type, operating system, request date/time and pages requested. OSMF may use those records for service operation, security and planning, and as anonymised summaries for research or improvement. No photo, catalogue record or filename is sent. You can instead use only images already cached on your device, and can withdraw the saved permission later in Settings. Tiles already downloaded remain cached for offline reuse.
- Optional semantic-search model download — if (and only if) you click to enable "describe and find" search, FastLoupe downloads the model files from a fixed, pinned source. Nothing about your photos, catalogue, search text or names is transmitted. Hugging Face receives the fixed file request and ordinary connection data such as the IP address, approximate location, device/operating-system details, date/time and FastLoupe's non-unique user-agent. Its privacy policy permits using that data to deliver, secure, analyse and improve its service, and its publisher-analytics documentation describes repository download counts and, for qualifying publishers, anonymised request-level logs. Oddbrd does not publish the pinned model repository and receives neither those logs nor per-user model-download analytics. The download can be declined and the feature skipped.
- Store licence check — on store-sold versions, at startup the app asks the store you bought it from (the Microsoft Store on Windows, the Mac App Store on macOS) about your copy's licence: whether it is a purchase or a trial, and which add-ons you have purchased, so paid features unlock. This talks to Microsoft or Apple, not to us, and carries no content of yours. A copy not sold through a store does not do this.
- Optional paid sync add-on — if you buy and configure it, FastLoupe uploads copies of your photos to the cloud storage account you own and set up (for example your own Azure Blob container). Those copies go to your provider, never to Oddbrd; we neither host nor receive them. Your provider may retain account and connection records under the agreement and privacy policy for your account.
- Optional Apple Photos import from iCloud — on macOS, the default import mode explicitly forbids network access and skips originals that are only in iCloud. If you separately choose the download mode, Apple's Photos service may download those originals to your Mac. The dialog shows known local/cloud hints and a known-byte estimate or floor first; unknown residency or size means the actual download can be larger. Nothing is sent to Oddbrd.
Why the Mac App Store privacy label lists data
Apple defines “collected” data to include data retained by third-party partners, even when the developer does not receive it. To avoid understating the provider practices above, FastLoupe's Mac App Store disclosure is deliberately conservative:
- Photos or Videos and Precise Location are listed for App Functionality only. They cover optional sync to storage you configure and the precise area an online map request can reveal.
- Coarse Location, Device ID, Product Interaction and Other Diagnostic Data are listed for App Functionality and Analytics. They cover the providers' retained IP-derived location, request/device details, requested tiles or model files, and technical access records. FastLoupe creates no advertising ID or other unique device identifier; Device ID is included conservatively because Apple says retained IP-address data may need that category depending on its use.
All six categories are marked as linked to the user because a provider may retain them with an IP address or device details. None is used for tracking: FastLoupe contains no advertising SDK, does not combine this data with third-party data for advertising, and does not share it with a data broker. See Apple's App Privacy definitions for the terminology. These labels do not mean Oddbrd receives telemetry; it does not.
Files the app can change on your device
Browsing your library is read-only. Some actions you explicitly choose — and confirm on screen —
do write to your files: importing from a card into dated folders, reorganising originals into a
date-based layout, writing .xmp sidecars next to originals, deleting selected originals
to the Recycle Bin/Trash, and exporting resized copies. None of these runs automatically or in the
background, and none involves us. Among these file-changing workflows, network use is limited to
the optional sync add-on and the explicitly chosen Apple Photos iCloud-download mode described
above.
Children
FastLoupe is a general-purpose desktop tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information for Oddbrd; optional network providers receive only the request data described above under their own policies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
